Seniors

One of our main focuses, and specialties, is to provide the senior mature driver with the ability to maintain their driving privileges, as we are very aware of the fears of losing ones independence when a driving license is revoked.

THE LAW AT PRESENT

1. From the age of seventy, anyone involved in a reportable collision has to undergo a road test, which includes a component on the freeway irrespective of whether or not one actually drives on one.

2. From the age of eighty, everyone has to renew their licenses. This involves:

A vision test
Attendance at a 90 minute educational seminar
A written test of 20 questions covering the rules of the road, and 20 questions covering actual road signs.

Previous driving history, successful vision, results of the written test, and participation in the seminar will determine whether a license is merely renewed or if a road test is required.

CSS Driver Training is now offering 4 programs for the senior mature driver.

1. A 3 hour course in which we prepare the senior mature driver for the license renewal test at age 80.

2. A 10 hour (over 5 days) Mature Driver Refresher Course focusing on all aspects of remaining a safe driver, and maintaining ones' driving privilege.

3. In-car evaluations of ones driving ability.

4. Actual in-car training should a road test be required.
