G2-Exit Test Preparation Manual shift lessons
Full Ministry
Approved Certificate
Course
This is the full Ministry Approved Beginner Driver Education course. Students who complete this course receive certificates entitling
them to:
- the maximum possible insurance discount for
approved driver training (speak with your insurance company for
details);
- a reduction in the
G1 license driving period (8 months as compared to the normal 12
months).
The course consists of the following:
- 25 hours of classroom instruction (divided into 8 separate
sessions, as described, below);
- 10½ hours of individualized in
car
instruction (divided into 14 lessons of 45 minutes each)
Classroom sessions are held weekday evenings and Saturday mornings,
according to the posted schedule. The eight
(8) sessions need to be completed to qualify for the course. As
each session is an individualized subject, independent of the others,
the sessions may be taken out of sequence and non consecutively.
The first in car lesson is usually booked via the office, with subsequent lessons normally scheduled directly with
the in car instructor. The only prerequisite prior to scheduling an
in car lesson is that the student must have a valid driving
permit recognized in Ontario.
On completion of 25 hours of classroom and 10½ hours of in car training with CSS, the student
may apply for a Ministry Approved
certificate by visiting the office IN PERSON as the student's signature
is required on the certificate. Certificate processing cannot
be done by mail or FAX.
Please note that two business days notice
is required prior to pickup of the Ministry Certificate.
Road tests may be booked after completion of the
course, and CSS can assist students with this process. Road tests for student drivers eligible to
be done within eight months of issuance of a G1 licence will
only be booked once the student has the Ministry Approved
certificate. Rental of the instructor's car for the road test is available
for a nominal fee.
Students may book road tests immediately by themselves after 8 months of the issuance of
their G1 drivers license at their own risk. Note that DriveTest centres
will request proof of the completion of the full course (i.e. the
certificate) if you are taking the road test in under 12 months from the
date your G1 license is issued. The certificate
process will not be altered to meet a test date!

Ministry Upgrade
Course
This is a special course designed for:
- Licensed drivers who wish to learn about and/or
upgrade their defensive driving skills; or
- Drivers who have had their license suspended and require a
Ministry of Transportation approved course to upgrade their skills.
The course consists of the following:
- Any three (3) classroom sessions from our regular programme to be determined in
conjunction with the school
- A 90 minute in-car
lesson
Second Level G2-Exit
Preparation
CSS offers training designed for class G2 licensed drivers to prepare for
their second level exit test (commonly referred to as a G test or G2
Exit test) in Ontario's graduated licensing system. The initial
lesson
is intended as an evaluation. Students will see the new
standard
that's expected, and adjustments will be made by the student by
practicing
on their own or with an instructor.
During the in-car session, the instructor will take
the student through a typical test, using a mock road test sheet, and
clearly showing the student their level of performance in relation to the
G2 Exit test standards. Drivers who do not fully comprehend the new
standards may opt to take additional instruction to fix the targeted
areas.
